Question about player turn order when choosing characters

We noticed that in starting a game (we're playing with the Queen in additional to the usual 8 characters), it appears to be random as to who is "left" of the crown. So the player order on the screen has no relation to the player order in terms of passing character cards left to choose.

How can we pick the Queen in this case, if we don't know who is sitting to the left of the crown?

For reference, here is the player order on the screen:

brainpoo
klbbeach
BilboAtBagEnd
ASmiles
WeirdBal
robingoblin
mHabes (crown)

But here is the player order when choosing characters:

mHabes (as it should be, since he has the crown)
BilboAtBagEnd (why?!)
brainpoo
klbbeach
...

It's confusing....

You must have wrong in notice the order chosing of characters. The characters always are chosen from the crown (the first player to choose) to down. If bottom is reached, it continue from the begining. (similar to the board game, the characters go to the left player).
