Be aware of the sandwich!!!

I wish I wouldn't feel the need of writing this message.

I just wanted to share something with you (in English so our foreign friends can know about it too).

This week I started a few 3-player games. After a few turns, in some of them I begun to grow suspicious: the other two players seemed to be in league. Whenever I got to choose my character in between them, the first player chose the Thief and always guessed right as to what character I had chosen. Maybe if I had no money the Thief chose a character that wasn't in play (Oh!). The sorcerer also had a tendency to pick on me for some reason. Of the other players, one seemed like he was getting the edge across the different games.

I grew a little paranoic and started to investigate. I share with you what I found so you can be aware of it.

First of all, I noticed that there were two combinations of players: for now A/B and A/C, and in a few of my games I was playing to either one combination. Player A is a high ranking player, players B and C haven't won a game yet.

Looking at the logs, I noticed that they had joined my games within a very short time interval (sometimes less than a minute) and that when their turns occured one after the other (meaning my turn had been before theirs or was to be after), it usually didn't pass too much time. Sometimes they played one shortly after the other at awkward times like at four in the morning.

I think by now you see where this is going.

I kept on investigating and searched through all completed games, looking for games played and won by player A, specially 3-player games. What I found confirmed what I thought. I had not been the only player being "sandwiched". Because, alas, as you've already guessed by now, players B and C are alter-egos of player A.

The alter-egos of player A haven't always been the same, he used to have two other alter-egos. Sometimes he even played with his two alter-egos, finding no trouble to win the games by far, of course.

In the past there was some controversy with a player called Metal Logic. This player had been created by NimofB (to whom we all dearly miss) for testing reasons. It affected the ranking but it didn't make other players waste their time. Achiles defined the policy of the site which could be basically described as "non-intervention".

A player cheating by himself to climb up the ranking table is one thing.

But a player cheating on other players by having different accounts is very dishonest to say the least. It's very, very frustrating to play a game against such odds. And I am (was) playing 6 of them, with the same combination of characters, which helped on comparing between the games and getting a bigger picture. Fortunately, then, I've realized what was going on soon enough.

I want to share with you this so you can avoid playing with this person (I'll say who he is in a second). As for my games, I will explode them. I won't give him the victories and the points he was pursuing.

Ok, so here's the name of the player: Gaspi.
Current alter-egos: XxX and Zorith.
Old alter-egos: Berserk and Gatts.

Who knows if he has even more alter-egos.

There were a few more games like this, after seeing the same scenario over and over I got tired of looking, copying and pasting.

I suspect player shijin was also sandwiched like I was to be in my current games (in other words, I don't think he's another alter-ego).

I think Achiles won't do anything on this issue, I have already contacted him. I don't share his views but I respect it. He's developed a too great of a site to be grumpy or something about it.

But I will certainly not make any more turns in my sandwhich games, and I will explode them at the proper time.

It's a pity such behaviors make us all waste our time and energy.

Yes, this is all tiresome. I don't expect an apology or even ask for one. I don't ask for boicotting the games where this player is, either.

I just hope this message helps other honest players on knowing who they're playing with. I know with whom I won't be playing any more games.

I don't want to put an end to this message in a sad mood, so I will finish congratulating Achiles once again for his great job on making it possible to play Citadels with friends across the world, friends we don't regularly get to see.

You are too a nice person, anyway. I'd vote for all of us getting into the games he creates and go against him (you'll see his games explode like a handfull of grenades :-) BUt ignoring him will be fine, I guess.

I think that's a strange situation. I've played many games with G. and I think he's a very good player and he doesn't need to do it. Actually he's in second place in the ranking, but that's an annoying circumstance...

Has someone asked him about that? What's the answer?

despues de mucho pensar me bastaria con una disculpa publica del culpable, en la que aceptara que se ha comportado como un niño de seis años, pero de volver a jugar con el...... en mucho tiempo.

De acuerdo, perdon a todos, siento romper la armonia de los jugadores aki presentes, Aunke el 90% de mis partidas las he ganado legalmente, se me escapo de las manos algo q hice solo por porbar si se podia hacer y abuse de ello, perdon a todos.

supongo que no te importaría que achiles te quitara todos los puntos que conseguiste ilegalmente no??

Yo pido perdon a la gente con la q he jugado o he perjudicado no a uno q se mete sin sabe de q va la historia y se ha hecho la cuenta hace dos dias sin ni sikiera haber terminado ninguna partida, asi q no te metas donde no te llaman.

Personalmente, creo que deberia haber algun tipo de consecuencua a hacer trampas, si no, en poco tiempo esto va a acabar siendo una 'guerra de trampas'.
Estoy de acuerdo con bita, si realmente lo sientes y pides perdon le pediria a Achiles que te quite los puntos que tienes de mas, y que se los de a quien los ha perdido por jugar una 'sandwich' contigo.

Francamente, Gaspi, tu comportamiento deja mucho que desear. Ya estabas bajo sospecha por reventar partidas que 'casualmente' no ibas a ganar. Te di el beneficio de la duda por ser la primera vez y esto, desde luego, no ayuda. Pedir perdon sin pedir que se corrija lo que has hecho no tiene mucho peso que digamos.

No quería intervenir en este asunto, pero tendré que hacerlo. Ya tomé mi decisión respecto a esto hace tiempo. Tarde o temprano tenía que suceder.
La decisión fue de no intervenir en las partidas, ni poner reglas sobre la moral o coherencia del juego. Bastantes problemas tengo ya con mantener el sistema funcionando, para tener que intervenir en los problemas de la gente que interactuan con ese sistema.
Gaspi (no es el primero) ha hecho trampas, sí, pero no puedo quitarle puntos por ello. Si alguien descubre un sistema ingenioso de engañar a mis scripts y conseguir más monedas o robar cartas, entonces intervendré para deshacer el entuerto hasta donde me sea posible, pero los errores humanos no entran en mi jurisdicción. No puedo imponer reglas morales sobre el bien y el mal a la gente. La gente es libre de hacerse 100 cuentas si quieren y molestar con esas cuentas en la clasificación, o bien pegándoles 3 a 1 a otro tipo (eso se puede hacer entre 3 humanos, sin hacer "trampas", de hecho también se ha hecho antes, aunque en este servidor apenas, según creo). Pero yo no puedo estar en todas las partidas, no puedo revisar todas las IP's, seguir todos los gamelogs ni crear un montón de reglas morales y tratar de hacer que la respeten. (que pechá de escribir)
Esta web la hice por que me apetecía jugar con personajes extendidos y sin ciertos fallos y con ciertas comodidades que la otra no tenía. Ahora la mentengo por que me gusta, y me gusta ver como la gente juega a ella (y me humillan en la clasificación). Si alguien comienza a agobiarme mucho en una partida con clones o simplemente yendo a por mi a saco, con el tiempo dejaré de jugar con esa persona y jugaré con gente de más confianza. De nada sirve hacer trampas para acabar jugando solo (es tela de aburrido jugar solo, os lo aseguro que lo he hecho mucho en el pasado para testear la web, ahora se testea sola (; ).
Gaspi a pedido perdón por lo que ha hecho. Quien lo acepte, seguirá jugando con él (supongo que mientras no reincida). Quien no lo haga, pues jugará con otra gente. Pero seguir agravando este problema no tiene sentido alguno.

Pues eso, que ya he escrito mucho y tengo que vigilar las partidas, que hoy explotan más de 600 (espero no tener que tirar de backups...)

Si alguien quiere subir en la clasificación, es bien sencillo, solo tiene que jugar muchas partidas conmigo, que soy presa facil (;

Yo he reconocido mi error y he pedido perdon , me da igual la puntacion , la gran mayoria de mis partidas la he ganado legalmente, solo q no entiendo pq se mete en el tema gente q no tiene nada q ver coo bite q nunca he jugado con el si alguien debe oedirme explicaciones es shijin , o jesus kines gente q esta arriba y he podido molestar o matilda una chica a la q admiro y le tengo mucho cariño, o tu mismo achiles q le habra echado miles de horas para obtener tan buen resultado solo eso. y si hace falta apollo informatico para testear mejor la pagina mejorarla o montar un servior puedo dartelo eso ya lo hablariamos. solo eso perdon a los q he moestado no con los q nunca he jugado, tb a ti don satquatcho q te considero un gran jugador y ya me lo has demostrado.

Opino porque el foro está para que todos hagamos eso precisamente, independientemente del número de partidas jugadas, terminadas, ganadas o la antigüedad del que opine. Pero la verdad, si tanto te ha ofendido mi comentario, mis disculpas.

opino que la funcion primordial de la web es el entretenimiento.

Weno la criatura se ha disculpado y el jefe ha hablado, deberiamos de dar por zanjado el asunto y no darle mas importancia. No olvidemos que al fin y al cabo esto solo es un juego

Ah, pero no daban gallifantes al primero de la clasificación cada mes? Jo, que desilusión...

Como todos sabeis, el que este primero de la clasificacion a dia 1 de cada mes, tiene como premio una cena romantica con Achiles; parece que este mes le toca a Jesus.....
